When Bill Jackson was in college, at his own admission he was a horrible student. On the last day of a class in the spring quarter of his junior year at Wheaton College, however, he relates that he was broadsided by God. His professor, Dr. C. Hassell Bullock (now Old Testament Chair at Wheaton), had planned the course on the Old Testament prophet, Isaiah, to end with Isaiah's 53rd chapter. Some might know that this is the chapter where Isaiah describes a dying, servant figure with language that the New Testament writers find fulfilled in the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Isaiah's language describes the Christ event so accurately that Bill came to believe that only God could have shown Isaiah the day of Christ's passion nine hundred years before the actual event. It was there, at Wheaton, sitting at his desk, that Bill came to believe that the Bible is a book inspired by God and he committed himself to study it. Overnight he became a serious student (cheer up you parents: it can happen!).
Out of Bill's call to the pastorate and his commitment to biblical research came opportunities to share with others the things he was learning about the storyline of the Bible. Eventually he found himself sharing that story around the United States and in various places in the world.
